While most people stress and intricately plan their food menu, it’s equally important to curate your wine list for Thanksgiving! I’m by no means a wine expert but I did enlist the help of a highly knowledgeable family member (along with some of my favorites) for the perfect wine pairings for your Turkey day meal!
The most obvious pairing is a dry white wine, especially if you’re serving gravy with your turkey. My favorite white wine is Sauvignon Blanc, specifically from the Marlborough region of New Zealand. Some great affordable choices are this Kim Crawford optionor this Starborough one. Chenin Blanc would be another great option, like this budget-friendly, top rated Royal South African option.
A slightly richer, fruitier white that is still dry enough for turkey, especially if you’re not serving gravy is a Viognier. Total Wine ranks this as a top choice and it’s quite economical as well.
I’ve written about my new found love of Rosé herethis summer and my top 2 picks, still remain true. Pick up a bottle of my favorite, Molderbosch or a close second, the Charles & Charles Rosé.
I’m a firm believer in drinking the wine you like best. If it’s red wine that you reach for all the time, drink it on Thanksgiving! A pinot noir (I like Meiomi) or a Zinfandel (7 Deadly Zins is my favorite) would be preferable to a heavier Cabernet Sauvignon or Malbec.
I hope you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving with family & friends! I am thankful for so much & truly appreciate all of your support! XO, Shannon
